# Can I modify or cancel a payment link after creating it?

# Can I modify or cancel a payment link?

No. Once created, a payment link can’t be edited or modified: amount, label and type are locked. This protects your customer, who pays exactly what you sent.
To change the amount, fix a mistake or cancel a payment request, disable the link and create a new one.

### 1. Disable the old link

* Go to **Payment Links**,
* then click the **Disable** icon 🚫 on the right of the link, in the **Action** column,
* the status changes from **Active** to **Disabled**.

Once disabled, the link can no longer be paid by your customer.

### 2. Create a new link

Create a new payment link with the correct details, then send it to your customer.

|| 💡 The disabled link stays visible in your dashboard for record-keeping, but can no longer be used.
